The Role

The Director of Interior Design will provide leadership in design strategy, project execution, and team development. This individual will be responsible for guiding the firm’s interior design identity, ensuring that each project aligns with the company’s mission to create transformative environments. Reporting to firm leadership, the Director of Interior Design will oversee design teams, manage client relationships, and drive the creative process from initial concept through completion.

Key Responsibilities

  • Creative Leadership: Establish and oversee the interior design vision for the firm’s portfolio, ensuring consistency and innovation.

  • Project Management: Guide interior design projects from conceptual development through completion, ensuring aesthetic and functional excellence.

  • Client & Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with developers, city officials, and community stakeholders to bring projects to life.

  • Team Development & Mentorship: Lead, inspire, and mentor a team of interior designers, fostering a culture of creativity and collaboration.

  • Collaboration & Coordination: Partner with architects, construction teams, and consultants to integrate interior design with overall development goals.

  • Sustainability & Innovation: Implement cutting-edge design practices, materials, and sustainable strategies to elevate project impact.

  • FF&E Selection & Procurement: Curate furniture, fixtures, and finishes that align with project goals and elevate the user experience.

  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all designs meet zoning, building codes, and accessibility standards.

  • Brand & Business Development: Contribute to thought leadership, marketing, and the firm’s overall design identity.

Qualifications

  • 12+ years of experience in interior design, with a portfolio showcasing hospitality, office, church, multifamily, retail, and civic projects.

  • NCIDQ certification preferred.

  • Mastery of design software, including AutoCAD, Revit, Rhino, SketchUp, and Adobe Creative Suite.

  • Proven ability to lead high-profile projects and manage multidisciplinary teams.

  • Strong knowledge of materials, FF&E procurement, and sustainable design practices.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with a track record of client engagement.

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Interior Design or Architecture field.

  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a passion for placemaking and community-driven design.
